ResMed AirMini Review
A modern take on the travel CPAP
Resmed is changing the world of sleep apnea with their modern take on the travel CPAP machine. Weighing in at just 0.66 pounds, the ResMed AirMini AutoSet Travel CPAP machine is the world’s smallest CPAP machine, able to fit in the palm of your hands. Despite being over two pounds lighter and half the size of the ResMed AirSense 10, the AirMini offers many of the same benefits, such as their enhanced breathing recognition algorithm, while also bringing new features to the table, like their HumidX waterless humidification system and AirMini app for iOS and Android.
When you’re taking an overnight trip as a PAP user, the last thing you want to worry about is getting a good night’s sleep. But with the average PAP machine weighing in at 2.5 pounds and meant to rest on a nightstand, figuring out how to bring one with you can be overwhelming.
ResMed resolves all of these issues by designing the AirMini AutoSet Travel CPAP Machine, the world’s smallest CPAP machine at the intersection of portability and quality.
Features at a Glance
Using the AirMini’s bluetooth compatibility, the “AirMini by ResMed” app lets you start and stop your CPAP therapy, change comfort settings and view sleep therapy statistics like your sleep score all from the convenience of your smartphone.
Innovative Comfort Settings
Because CPAP machines deliver a fixed amount of air pressure, CPAP users often struggle with exhaling, making it difficult for them to fall asleep. The AirMini’s ramp feature allows the user to start the CPAP machine off at a lower pressure, allowing them to comfortably fall asleep before receiving their higher pressure sleep therapy. During therapy, ResMed’s Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR) reduces the airflow delivered during exhalation. For additional comfort, ResMed has also included a SmartStart and a SmartStop function that starts and stops the AirMini as soon as you put on or take off your face mask.
Coming in at only 5.4 inches long, 3.3 inches wide and 2.1 inches tall, the AirMini travel CPAP can easily fit into any travel bag, making it one of the most portable CPAPs on the market. In addition, the AirMini is FAA certified, allowing you to get through airport security without a problem.
Normally, PAP machines come with bulky humidification chambers that need to be filled with distilled water to provide moist air during sleep. To save space, weight and time, ResMed designed the AirMini with the HumidX waterless humidification system, allowing for patients to breath in moist air without the need for carrying a water chamber or buying distilled water.
Multiple Mask Options
The AirMini is compatible with nasal pillow masks, full face masks, and nasal CPAP masks, allowing CPAP users to choose the one that’s most suitable for their needs. There are five ResMed masks compatible with the AirMini: the AirFit P10, AirFit N20, Airfit F20, AirFit F30 and the AirTouch F20.
Note: Separate mask setup packs are required to make them compatible with the AirMini. You can each mask set up pack below:
The AirMini travel case snugly holds the machine in EVA foam, protecting it from any impact or liquid damage while also being portable and lightweight.

ResMed AirMini vs. DreamStation Go
The ResMed AirMini AutoSet and Philips DreamStation Go Auto CPAP are top competitors in the travel CPAP market. Both machines have bluetooth capabilities, are cordless and compact, but there are some differences.
The AirMini is smaller and lighter, weighing about a third of the DreamStation Go (at 0.66 lbs), and uses waterless humidification technology (a heat moisture exchanger, a.k.a ‘HME’), eliminating the need for water altogether. Although the DreamStation Go is slightly more expensive, because the AirMini requires a “Mask Setup Pack” (sold separately) in order to be compatible with a ResMed mask, the price points are very similar.
On the other hand, the DreamStation Go can be used with a wider variety of masks than the AirMini, with the help of a universal adapter that is included in the box, whereas the AirMini only works with ResMed brand masks. Moreover, the Go is better suited for everyday use, whereas the AirMini is better suited for travel-use only.

Drawbacks of the AirMini
Although the AirMini has plenty of amazing features, there are some possible drawbacks CPAP users should be aware of before purchasing.
External Power Supply
The AirMini does not come with a battery, meaning that it must be plugged into power in order to operate. ResMed offers a DC converter 65W that allows you to power the AirMini from a cigarette lighter socket in a vehicle. Alternatively, you can purchase the Freedom CPAP battery kit, which is compatible with the AirMini; regardless, it will add to the overall cost of the product.
The AirMini is similar in noise level to its counterparts like the DreamStation Go at around 30 decibels; however, to many, this is still not considered to be as quiet as CPAP users expect.
ResMed’s AirMini is the perfect CPAP machine for the frequent traveler. Whether riding a train, going on a road trip, or flying on a plane, the world’s smallest CPAP machine can fit in any bag, allowing you to continue your CPAP therapy wherever you go. In addition to its portable design, the AirMini has a host of features such as the waterless humidifier, the AirMini app and a host of adjustable comfort settings that rival even standard CPAP machines. Despite all of its benefits, it’s noise level and lack of a battery are two issues CPAP users may find frustrating. Here’s a summary of the ResMed AirMini:
- Smallest travel CPAP machine on the market
- Compatible with a variety of mask fits
- Bluetooth compatibility
- Only compatible with ResMed brand masks
- Can only be powered by a power outlet
- May be too loud for some users
Take your CPAP therapy anywhere, with the convenience and comfort of the ResMed Airmini.
